Middlesbrough FC has signed goalkeeper Radek Vitek on a permanent deal from Manchester United. The 22-year-old Czech youth international completed his move to the Riverside as the club's seventh summer signing.
Career Path
Vitek joined Manchester United from Sigma Olomouc in 2020 and progressed through the academy ranks at Old Trafford. He won the FA Youth Cup during his time there and made appearances in senior pre-season friendlies for the Red Devils.
Before his permanent move to Middlesbrough, Vitek gained experience on loan at several clubs. He spent time with Accrington Stanley and Austrian side Blau-Weiß Linz before joining Bristol City on loan in the Sky Bet Championship last season, where he was named the club's Player of the Year.
Vitek's Vision
"It feels great to be here. This is a new challenge for me and I'm really excited to be a Boro player," Vitek said after completing his move.
"The project here is very impressive, because you can clearly see the ambition and where the club wants to go. I'm delighted to now be part of that."
Vitek identified the club's Premier League ambitions as a key attraction. "The mission is clear: to go to the Premier League. I think everyone at the club has that mindset, and I want the same thing. Now I just can't wait to get started," he added.
Summer Signings
Vitek joins Jeremy Sarmiento, Myles Peart-Harris, Kyle Joseph, Will Lankshear, Sebastian Berhalter and Max Arfsten as Middlesbrough's summer additions.
