Middlesbrough have signed Manchester United goalkeeper Radek Vitek for an undisclosed fee.

The 22-year-old Czech spent last season on loan in the Championship with Bristol City, where he made 41 league appearances.

Vitek is the seventh player to join Middlesbrough this summer. The club started the campaign with a 1-0 win over Wrexham in the Carabao Cup on Friday.

Vitek's ambitions

"The project here is very impressive, because you can clearly see the ambition and where the club wants to go," Vitek said on the club website.

"The mission is clear: to go to the Premier League. I think everyone at the club has that mindset, and I want the same thing."

Championship opener

Vitek could make his debut for Middlesbrough in their Championship opener at home to promoted Lincoln City next Saturday.

Middlesbrough have not disclosed the length of contract he has signed.
