A free evening vintage market will bring 13 independent sellers from across the North East to Middlesbrough later this month.

NE Vintage Takeover will hold its first Teesside event on Friday 16 October 2026 on the first floor of Teesside University Students' Union. The market will run from 5pm to 9pm, with free entry and the Students' Union bar open throughout the evening.

Traders will offer a mix of Y2K fashion, streetwear, sportswear, designer pieces, band T-shirts, vinyl records, upcycled clothing, Pokemon cards and other collectibles.

Organisers say the event is intended to give independent businesses a platform while offering shoppers an alternative to the traditional high street. The format brings several specialist sellers together in one venue, giving visitors the chance to browse a range of pre-owned and independently sourced items in one place.

Neale McGeever, founder of NE Vintage Takeover, said: "I'm really excited to bring NE Vintage Takeover to Teesside for the first time. We've got 13 brilliant independent sellers coming from across the North East, all bringing something different with them."

He added: "The idea behind NE Vintage Takeover is to bring great local vintage businesses together and take over interesting venues around the region. Middlesbrough has a great independent scene, so it felt like the perfect place for our first Teesside event."

Mr McGeever said the range of stock would include old football shirts, band tees, vinyl and one-off pieces, as well as the fashion and collectibles listed by the participating traders.

The Middlesbrough market follows previous NE Vintage Takeover events elsewhere in the North East. The organisation says its events aim to support independent vintage sellers while bringing contemporary markets to local communities.
