Middlesbrough FC have signed United States international Sebastian Berhalter from MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps on a four-year contract. The 25-year-old midfielder arrives at the Riverside after impressing in North American football and international competition.

Berhalter featured in all four of the US's World Cup matches and scored and assisted in the Americans' group stage win over Turkey. He holds 18 senior caps for the USMNT.

Form and Record

The midfielder has been in strong form this season, scoring six goals and providing 14 assists in the ongoing 2026 MLS season. His performances earned him selection for the 2025 MLS All-Star Game.

Before joining Vancouver in 2022, Berhalter spent time at Columbus Crew and had a loan spell with Austin FC.

Personal Connection

Berhalter is reunited with childhood friend Aidan Morris at Boro. Speaking after his move was confirmed, Berhalter said he had been watching Middlesbrough closely over the previous two years and was drawn to how the club plays and fights.
