Middlesbrough FC have signed midfielder Sebastian Berhalter from Vancouver Whitecaps. The 25-year-old United States international joins as a summer signing after establishing himself as a key player in Major League Soccer.
Background
Berhalter was born in London and raised in Columbus, Ohio. He began his professional career with Columbus Crew in 2014 and spent time on loan at Austin FC before being traded to Vancouver Whitecaps in February 2022.
Recent Form
In his most recent MLS season, Berhalter scored six goals and provided four assists in 14 appearances. Internationally, he made his USMNT debut at the 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup and was selected for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he featured in every group stage match for the hosts.
