Middlesbrough will travel to Celtic Park on Saturday, 18 July 2026 for a pre-season friendly against Scottish champions Celtic. The match will be head coach Kim Hellberg's first open pre-season fixture with the club, with around 5,000 Boro fans expected to make the trip.

A Serious Start to Pre-Season

Hellberg described the Celtic fixture as the real beginning of preparations for the 2026-27 season. "The Celtic game is the real first game in terms of preparing for the season," he said. "We've had a very tough week and are training very tough and hard to develop and help the players."

The friendly follows a behind-closed-doors training match against Portuguese side SC Farense, which ended 2-2 with striker David Strelec scoring twice.

Return to Scotland

Middlesbrough previously travelled north of the border for pre-season ahead of the 2025-26 campaign, when a match against Rangers also finished 2-2.
