Middlesbrough FC supporters will receive free Teesside Parmos at the Riverside on Saturday ahead of the 12.30pm kick-off against Cardiff City. Midnite, the club's principal partner, is distributing 1,000 Parmos in the Fan Zone from 10am, with fans needing only to show their match ticket to claim one while supplies last.
The giveaway follows a Parmo cooking challenge featuring former Boro players David Wheater and Craig Hignett competing against first-team players Alfie Jones and Sol Brynn. Boro manager Kim Hellberg judged the contest, with the winner to be revealed on Midnite's social media channels. Wheater and Hignett will be on hand in the Fan Zone on Saturday to help local food truck caterer Crazy & Co serve the Parmos.
A celebration of local food
Wheater said of his entry: "My Parmo was made with a lot of heart, cheese, chicken and a whole lot of béchamel sauce. It was a really fun experience to take part in, and it's even better knowing that the fans get to be part of it too, with an even tastier Parmo on matchday."
Andrew Mook, Head of Brand Marketing at Midnite, added: "There is no more recognisable meal for Middlesbrough locals than a Teesside Parmo, and we're pleased to be able to celebrate it while giving something back to the fans who show up every week."
Midnite's wider fan initiatives
The Parmo giveaway is part of Midnite's broader matchday sponsorship strategy. The company launched 'This Season's On Us' at the start of the season, offering supporters chances to win season tickets, shirts, match tickets and £25 club shop vouchers.
Midnite is also running a season-long '2UP' initiative. If Boro go two goals ahead in a home league match, one lucky fan wins a cash prize pot starting at £1,000, which increases by a further £1,000 after every home league match. Two fans have won a combined £3,000 so far this season.
